Date Photographed: 1866
Catalog:Carleton Watkins: The Complete Mammoth Photographs, cat. no. 178
Notes:CMP notes: Posed in front of Hutchings's hotel are ten people, eight men and two women. Posted on the wall to the left of the entrance is a broadside with a text that reads: C.E. Watkins / Yosemite Gallery / Photographer. This view represents a return to the site of an earlier picture (see cat. no. 177). The passage of time is recorded in the present image by three new windows in the upper story of the hotel (see cat. no. 177). Is Muybridge one of the figures at hotel? Seated, with hat, on rock under second window from right? 12 men visible.
