Watkins Railroad Passes - 1884 to 1900

Carleton Watkins had a close personal relationship with Collis Huntington, president of Southern Pacific Railroad and photographed much of the railroad facilities and equipment. Watkins was given transportation for himself, an assistant and his photographic wagon throughout California and the Pacific Coast. Railroad passes for the later years of his career are held in the collection of the Society of California Pioneers.
